Just a quick stream of conscious run… here we go…Siddhartha, Holden Caulfield, Stephen Dedalus AND Waldo! Martin Handford, the creator of “Wheres Waldo” is making me think tonite… Waldo isn’t lost and he isn’t ever found, he always is just Waldo, doing his Waldo thing all around the world, but is it Waldo or a projection of Waldo wanting to be found or wanting to have a purpose that is asking us to find him and with reason? When Waldo is “found”, what is actually “found”? He’s always surrounded by millions of unique characters… is he an outsider or the main character…and whatever the occasion is, he is waldo, dressed in waldo attire, not casual, or casual, just waldo. Is what we are supposed to learn from “Wheres Waldo” is to ask ourselves “Where am I?” and learn from Waldo that if we embrace who we are then we will never be lost or never be found, we will just always “be” in every page of life…and if anyone decides to look for us, they will always be able to spot us in a crowd of millions if they decide to look hard enough. We learn self discovery through his journey and search of his own enlightenment.
